About Carpet Installation

In order to make your new carpet installation as smooth as possible, follow
these helpful considerations for an efficient process with minimal displacement.

Before Carpet Installation

Start by removing all furniture, electronics, and wall hangings from the rooms and closets receiving new carpet. Since carpet can’t be installed over an existing floor, you will need to have the current floors removed and disposed of entirely. Make sure to complete all painting in the room and remove doors if the new carpet raises the flooring height. Once your subfloor is professionally assessed and any necessary repairs are made, you are ready for installation.

During Carpet Installation

On the day of your new carpet installation, plan to be home and answer any questions that may arise for your installation crew. Designate a specific area in the home for your crew to keep installation tools, keep carpet rolls, and cut carpet as needed. Keep all children and pets away from the worker’s area and the rooms receiving new carpet. Make sure to establish proper ventilation in the home as instructed by your installation crew.

After Carpet Installation

Once your new carpet installation is complete, it is important to wait for the specified time before walking in the rooms and returning furniture. When returning furniture to your rooms, always use proper equipment with wheels or lift pieces to avoid snagging the carpet. We also recommend using felt protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to reduce impact and crushing over time. When you vacuum new carpet, you will experience normal shedding for the first month after installation.
