Regular Laminate Care & Maintenance

Even in the middle of a busy week, durable laminate floors only require a simple care routine to look fantastic.
Follow these helpful considerations to make the process even easier.

Preventative Laminate Care

Start by using mats at all entranceways and encouraging guests to scrape their footwear before walking inside. In stormy, wet, or snowy conditions, place racks by the door for footwear to keep dirt, mud, slush, and moisture from touching your laminate floors. If you have pets, keep their nails trim to prevent scratches and brush them regularly to reduce the amount of dander in the home. Use area rugs with the appropriate backing for laminate floors to add an extra layer of protection against foot traffic and spills.

Removing Dirt & Debris

Dirt, dust, and debris can become abrasive particles if not removed in a timely manner and scrape against the laminate surface. Sweep with a gentle bristle broom or dust-mop as frequently as possible to remove these particles effectively. Vacuum your area rugs frequently as well to keep particles on the rugs from reaching your floors.

Treating Spills & Stains

If a spill does occur on your laminate, there's no need to stress! Just treat it as promptly as possible to prevent a stain or slippery conditions. Gently lift any solid material with a spoon and paper towels. Then, gently wipe the spill from the perimeter towards the center with a dry, clean cloth or paper towels. Use a gentle laminate-specific cleaner to spot treat if necessary. When mopping or using a Swiffer WetJet system on your laminate floors, always ensure a completely dry surface after treating spills.
