About Laminate Installation

In order to make your new laminate installation as smooth as possible, follow
these helpful considerations for an efficient process with minimal displacement.

Before Laminate Installation

Start by removing all furniture, electronics, and wall hangings from the rooms and closets receiving new laminate. Many laminate products offer glue-down and floating installation methods, so your current floors may not need to be removed and disposed of entirely. Make sure to complete all painting in the room and remove doors if the new laminate raises the flooring height, especially if installed as a floating floor. Once your subfloor is professionally assessed, you are ready for installation!

During Laminate Installation

On the day of your new laminate installation, plan to be home and answer any questions that may arise for your installation crew. Designate a specific area in the home for your crew to keep installation tools, saws, boxes of laminate, and saw pieces as needed. Keep all children and pets away from the worker’s area and the rooms receiving new floors. Make sure to establish proper ventilation in the home as instructed by your installation crew.

After Laminate Installation

Once your new laminate installation is complete, it is important to wait for the specified time before walking in the rooms and returning furniture. Many floating laminate floors are ready for light foot traffic right away! When returning furniture to your rooms, always use proper equipment with wheels or lift pieces to avoid scratching the floor. We also recommend using felt protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to reduce impact over time.
